Zoekinfo.be
Zoekinfo.be was a start page I built in 2002, after trying the start pages of the time and wanting one with a much lighter layout: a single page of links, grouped by topic, to open as your home page.
Firsts. Zoekinfo was my first site that followed the XHTML 1.1 standard to the letter, which I kept doing in every project after it, and because of it the site looked the same in every browser. It was also my first site with classes, which I used to keep the logic apart from the layout. The links lived in a MySQL database, and PHP built the page out of them.
Unlimited subdomains. Zoekinfo ran on a wildcard domain, so a small PHP script could serve any subdomain as its own start page. In 2004, for example, I used it to put up microsoft-producten.zoekinfo.be and microsoft-games.zoekinfo.be, with links to every Microsoft product and game.
Technologies: PHP, MySQL, XHTML 1.1, CSS, Photoshop.
